INFLUÊNCIA DO SEXO, IDENTIDADE DE GÊNERO E TEMPO DE DIAGNÓSTICO NA CAMUFLAGEM SOCIAL NO AUTISMO

Camuflagem social se refere a uma estratégia, consciente ou inconsciente, utilizada por pessoas com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo para se encaixarem nos contextos sociais e envolve o ato de disfarçar comportamentos típicos do transtorno. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar os papéis do sexo, da identidade de gênero (gênero diverso versus cisgênero) e momento do diagnóstico (antes ou após os 21 anos de idade) e as interações entre esses fatores em 28 adultos brasileiros com diagnóstico de Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo, usando as subescalas assimilação, compensação e mascaramento do Camouflaging Autistic Traits Questionnaire. Os participantes que apresentaram maiores escores no questionário foram do sexo feminino, não heterossexuais, de gênero diverso, com ensino superior incompleto e que receberam o diagnóstico após os 21 anos. Nenhuma das variáveis investigadas pareceu impactar de forma diferenciada as estratégias de camuflagem social, nem as subclasses de compensação, mascaramento e assimilação. Esses resultados são diferentes do que já foi apresentado pela literatura americana. Essa diferença pode ser função de questões culturais e de compreensão e aceitação do autismo distintas entre brasileiros e americanos.
