This text presents an interview carried out with Professor Ivanilde Apoluceno de Oliveira, from the State University of Pará (UEPA), dealing with research in special education in the northern region, as well as her active participation in promoting this research and consolidating the area of research in the state of Pará and the North region. During these interviews, the teacher and researcher points out some important moments in her trajectory with research in Special Education, as well as recommendations for future researchers on the area and relevant approaches. They highlight how Philosophy, Freirean studies and principles and the alterity present in Enrique Dussel's writings contribute to action in favor of the inclusion of people with disabilities and special education. Based on these references and epistemological contributions to the area, the teacher becomes a reference in the region for research involving the Freirean perspective, as well as special education through respect for others.
